Upskilling or 'gap training' your staff via formal accredited qualifications, additional accredited 'skill sets' or the opportunity to RPL an accredited unit of competency that sits within a formal qualification, is an innovative and contemporary HR approach to workforce development and can form a part of your staff retention initiative.  


An organisation has various options available when upskilling staff this way and government funding  may also be available to fund this iniative.  An organisation may choose to partner with an RTO to facilitate this process or may elect to provide a accredited or non-accredited professional development to staff through voluntary benefits such as a reward management scheme.


Whatever option an organisation chooses, it is important to ensure selected professional development is linked directly to current and future job outcomes as this will positively impact on the effectiveness of such an investment.
